It will also escalate their interest in learning rather than the traditional way which made them feel prisoned within the four walls of their classroom which therefore leads to a better attention span among the students.
- Enhance Creative thinking, Life long learning & Social responsibility
ICT learning also promotes groupwork and group discussions among students whereby they can learn from their classmates as well as establishing a better interaction among themselves.
- Promote administrative & management excellence in education system
Master Plan 2
- Enhance educational processes and structures
It is essential for teachers and students alike to be aware and well informed about the basic ICT tools to aid them in their work with regards to school. And from the basic itself, it enables the teachers as well as students to advance in experimenting the various ICT tools to further enhance the education system.
Through enforcing ICT Learning in the education system, it allows schools in Singapore to gain recognition globally.
Master Plan 3
- Implementation of self-directed learning & collaborative learning.
Why So Important??
In the modern society, revolution has infused technology into our daily lives, therefore, it is important to emphasize ICT learning; nuturing the younger generation in using technology to further mould them into responsible and independent learners, thus well equiped them to embark on the life journey.
2.Has any of the Masterplans impacted you as a student? Share your experience on how ICT had been used in the classes you attended as a student (if applicable).
During my poly days, ICT learning has been vastly used during lessons via Heucampus to promote a better undertsanding in the subjects. It allows me to obtain information or conduct extra practice in the subject which i am weak at with just a click on the mouse.
It also enables me to save time from the hectic poly schedules. I was able to receive my assignments faster after submission and work on the areas to improve in through the comments given by my lecturer via Heucampus.
It is also used as a platform for communication between students and lecturers with regards to school work.
3.How do you think the Masterplan 3 for ICT in Education may affect your role(s) as a beginning teacher?
First and foremost, I may have to be well equipt with the knowledge of ICT learning and also the various integrated ICT tools used in the education system.I need to constantly update myself with the various ICT tools and ways to implement it to provide a classroom with sustainable learning.
I will also have to harnest my IT skills to conduct an enjoyable lesson as well as to promote a beter understanding in the subject.
Increasing my sense of awareness is also essential for me as a beginning teacher. I need to be aware of the various reflections, responds and the abilities of each individual in my class when using ICT.
Farah Ain has a succinctly packaged the characteristics of the Masterplans into one blogpost. She had also segregated her answer into manageable chunks. She also expresses how conscious she is towards her future students environment and mood, aiming to perform her best while keeping her students connected and comfortable. However, Farah Ain's blogpost could have been more complete if she cited more examples for a few areas such as the Masterplan 3 which is currently ongoing.
ReplyDeleteAs for masterplan one, under the aim: “Generate innovative processes in education”, I agree with Farah in terms of how ICT can enable the students to think “flexibly” and “innovatively”. In other words, students will be able to go beyond the textbooks thereby enabling them to generate innovative (sound and solid) ideas when it comes to group discussions for instance. Also, this goal is not only targeted to students per say but also to the teachers who are to create the lesson plans using ICT. These teachers would have to generate innovative ways using ICT to educate the students in a more engaging manner. Under the aim: “Enhance creative thinking, lifelong learning and social responsibility”: an elaboration under ‘social responsibility’ would be the fact that the use of ICT (E-learning platforms) could possibly generate a sense of responsibility among students as such platforms would enable them to look out for assignments and to submit them on time.
ReplyDeleteAs for masterplan two, there are in fact 3 other goals set out by MOE. The three goals are: to "Fully support schools that are ready to achieve higher levels of ICT use in education by introducing more recognition schemes and conducting further research on developing and prototyping pedagogical models", to "Develop schools' capacity within the framework of autonomy to take full ownership of their schools’ ICT implementation" and to "Strengthen the integration of ICT in the curriculum and assessment by focusing on areas of strategic importance and needs and developing partnership models to resource the schools.”
//Farah Ain gave plenty of insights pertaining to her experience with ICT use during her lessons such as her submission of assignments to Heucampus during polytechnic. She had a platform to communicate with her peers and lecturers as well.
I would like to add on to the importance of ICT in schools today. I really feel that behind all the lessons with ICT , the pupils would develop good problem solving skills and work efficiently in real world context in near future. ICT would also stretch our creativity as well.
ReplyDeleteFor question 2, I feel that a good platform for communication is very important to create a bond between pupils and teachers. Some pupils feel very uncomfortable and have no confidence in attempting questions in e-learning. They just look at every access to the computer time to play and not an opportunity to learn hence a website which has a personal touch to it by their teachers would boost the pupils’ confident to be a discipline learner.
As for the roles as a beginning teacher, having an open attitude to learning from your students would very much help you in near future given that knowledge comes from anyone and anywhere. I find what your views very true especially when it comes to harnessing your own IT skills. Our students look up to us so highly and a small glitch in delivering our lessons can have a detrimental effect on their anxiety and anticipation on their next lessons.
